Jonathan C. Waldron, D.M.D., P.C.

Jonathan C. Waldron, D.M.D.Graduating from Duke University in 1966, Dr. Jonathan Waldron earned his Navy Wings in January of 1968. After a combat tour of duty in Vietnam he was awarded the Navy Achievement Medal and three Air Medals. He finished his flying career at NAS Guantanomo Bay, Cuba as a station pilot and Personnel Officer of the Naval Air Station.

Upon leaving active duty, Dr. Waldron graduated from the University of Florida School of Dentistry and served four years as a dental officer in the Naval Hospital in Taipei, Taiwan and then at NAS Atlanta. While in private practice, Dr. Waldron has served as Commanding Officer of three Reserve Dental and Medical Units, the last of which was involved in Desert Storm.

Now a retired Navy Reserve Captain, Dr. Waldron has been practicing in Marietta for over twenty-five years. His father lives nearby in Roswell, GA and his brother is a retired Delta Captain living in Waleska, GA. His daughter, Ashley, studied art history at New York University and now owns and operates her own art and photography gallery in the Peachtree Hills neighborhood of Atlanta (www.daviswaldron.com).  She also specializes in children’s photography (www.awaldron.zenfolio.com).

Dr. Waldron’s two youngest sons attend Dickerson Middle and East Side Elementary School in Cobb County. Dr. Waldron and his wife Janet live in Powder Springs.

 

Blair Waldron, D.M.D., P.C.Blair Waldron, D.M.D.

Dr. Blair Waldron grew up in Marietta where he graduated with honors from Walton High School. He then graduated from the University of Georgia on a full alumni scholarship, was president of Chi Psi fraternity, a member of the Interfraternity Council and the Order of Omega Honorary Society. At the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry (www.mcg.edu), Dr. Waldron was president of his freshman class, president of the American Student Dental Association, and then Region V Trustee for the Southeastern Dental Schools. He was selected to represent his school at the Bridging the Gap national seminar and also awarded the first Stan Hopkins Scholarship.

Since graduation, Dr. Waldron has been active in the American Dental Association (www.ada.org), the Georgia Dental Association (www.gadental.org), the Hinman Dental Society (www.hinman.org), and the American Academy of General Dentistry (www.arg.org). He is a member of the Marietta Rotary Club (www.mariettarotary.org), Cobb Chamber of Commerce (www.cobbchamber.org), Leadership Cobb Class of 2001, and Honorary Commanders Class of 2002. He also works with Cobb Youth Leadership, the Center for Family Resources, and is a member of the Cobb Dental Society Child Assistance Program providing free dental care to selected needy children. In March 2008, Dr. Waldron was named one of the "20 Rising Stars Under 40" by Cobb Life Magazine.

In his spare time, Dr. Waldron enjoys playing sports and the outdoors. He lives in Atlanta with his wife, Krysia, who is a PhD candidate at Emory University. On February 5, 2008 they welcomed their first child Elizabeth May Waldron.

 

Edward Schlissel, DDS, MS

Dr. Schlissel moved to Atlanta to be closer to his daughter and family after a career as a Professor of Dentistry at the School of Dental Medicine at Stony Brook University on Long Island.  He received his dental training at the University of Buffalo, and after graduation, he joined the faculty of the School of Dental Medicine.

During his 30-year career as a member of the faculty, and later, Chair of the department, Dr. Schlissel held many positions and received many professional awards. He served as Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs and Director of the General Practice Residency Program. He was elected to membership in Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the national dental honor society. He was a member of the New York State Board of Dentistry and is a member of the Northeast Regional Board of Dental Examiners (The agency which oversees granting licenses to aspiring dentists). He is a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry and is a member of many professional societies, including the Academy of Osseointegration, which studies research on dental implants. He is the author of many articles, research abstracts and book chapters. He has lectured widely on many topics in restorative and cosmetic dentistry, including dental implants and dental materials research.

While at Stony Brook, Dr. Schlissel maintained a very busy dental practice, with an emphasis on complex restorative care involving the coordination of treatment with periodontists, oral surgeons and orthodontists. While teaching dentistry, he received a Masters of Science degree in Materials Science from the College of Engineering.

For the past five summers, Dr. Schlissel has led a group that has provided dental care to Native Americans at the Pine Ridge Indian Health Service Hospital in South Dakota. In his free time, Dr. Schlissel enjoys photography, golf, scuba diving and travel. He lives in Dunwoody with his wife, Elaine.
